The Native American Cultural Center (NACC) is pleased to announce the formation of the Betty Parent Fund. This fund will honor Betty’s lifelong devotion to education for indigenous peoples, through her own hard word in academia, community service, and mentoring for countless students and educational colleagues.
Donations to the Betty Parent Fund will be used to further indigenous education including k-12, college, and adult education. Some types of projects that the fund will support include:
•purchase of indigenous-themed books for libraries
•support for indigenous educational conferences
•grants to indigenous student organizations
•research support for students working on honors or advanced degrees
•curriculum development assistance for k-12 classroom projects
•creation of online indigenous educational resources
•archiving of materials by elders and tribal leaders for future study
•cultural activities allowing indigenous students to work together
Would you consider a donation to the fund? NACC is a 501[c]3 non-profit organization, so all contributions are tax deductible. Our goal is to raise a minimum of $5,000 in the first year, and to increase that in subsequent years as the educational needs of indigenous people become clearer.
We will gratefully receive donations of any size, but focus on larger gifts in order to make the largest impact. Projects will be considered on a rolling basis throughout the first year, and Betty herself will serve on the grant committee
